The purpose of The Baltimore Conduit is to create online hyper-local neighborhood‑centered civics hubs that bring together clear, accessible, and real‑time information about our communities and the people who represent us at the Neighborhood, City, State, and Federal levels of government.
By unifying civic updates, public meeting activity, government actions, and community resources in one place this platform aims to make civic engagement easier, more transparent, meaningful and fun.
We are currently trying to fill the following roles for this project:
- Video filmers/ camera/video people/ ie: the people who make sure the subjects of the video can be seen and heard.
- Online talent people – People interested in being in front of the camera doing interviews or other in depth news stories
- Video recording and editing people - We will be trying to record as all public meetings related to each neighborhood. This team will record meetings using OBS (just as an example technology to use) and then edit out dead time and also create short clips to be used to promote the main video.
- Writers
- Someone to maintain website, youtube channel, and discussion groups.
- (Someone to help decide the best way/website/app to encourage local discussions)
- Or if you have some other way that you would like to be involved with this project please let us know that too.
MONEY: The hope is that we will be able to fund our efforts through visitor contributions and possibly some youtube revenue (need to find out more about this) . There will be no paid advertisers (other than what is on Youtube) Possibly grants if they fit with the mission of this organization. This will also be managed as a collective and any money received will be equally split among everyone based on the amount of time they put in. No skill set will receive more than any other skill set. Decision making will also be a collective effort.
